Shire Inn Sign
Heritage

Aaron Davis Portrait The Shire Inn is the former Davis house, built in 1832 by Ruben Lamb. It was purchased by Aaron Davis, owner of the A. Davis General Store in the village, in 1865. Several generations of the Davis family occupied the home until it became the Shire Inn in 1977.

The original Adams style structure is constructed of free standing brick. One of the most handsome buildings in the village, it is graced with wide plank pumpkin pine floors, the fanciest of period doorways, and a graceful staircase that greets the entering guest.

Many a bride has descended this romantic staircase to marry her awaiting groom  in front of the fireplace in the parlor or on the bridge behind the inn.
