Rates and Information

       May to mid September, and weekends in January and February

The Shire Inn offers Bed and Breakfast rates of $144 to $195,  depending on the guestroom and season.   All have private baths and many have working, wood burning Rumsford fireplaces.   Rates include the lodging, afternoon tea, a full country breakfast for two and all gratuities.  Evening dinner is  available on weekends and by special request most other times at $41 per person including gratuities.  It is served at a single seating at 7:00 PM.

Mid September to Late October and Major Holiday Weekends

      Since restaurants are 20 to 40 minutes from the inn and generally have long lines during holiday periods and Vermont's brilliant foliage season our guests appreciate the opportunity return to the inn after a day of touring to a relaxing dinner.   To accommodate you during these periods, we operate a full kitchen and exclusively offer a dinner and breakfast package (Modified American Plan or MAP)  from $225 to $260 depending on the room.  Afternoon tea, our 5-course evening meal, full country breakfast and all gratuities are included.

General Information

We request a two night stay on weekends and during Fall foliage.  Single night stays may occasionally be available at these times for an additional charge of $20.

We maintain a smoke-free environment except for our covered porch.

Since many couples come to our inn for a brief respite from the challenges of raising a family, we only accept children over six at the inn.  

Dress is casual, but since some guests enjoy dressing up for dinner, perhaps to celebrate a special event, we request that dinner dress be "at least 1 step above jeans".   (If, however, you only brought jeans,  you will be welcome.)

Sorry, but we do not accept pets at the Inn as we often have guests with allergies.  There is a vet across the street who will board a pet in a friendly environment for you if you wish.

We request a one night deposit which will be refunded less a $10 processing fee if you provide 14 days notice of cancellation. (30 days for multiple room reservations.)   The deposit will also be refunded less the fee if you cancel within the period and we are able to re-rent the room.

Rooms are ready for check in by 3:00 PM.  We request checkout by 11:00 AM.
